A Public Private Partnership for the Free Provision of Menstrual Hygiene Products by the French Gvt

The French government’s recent announcement of its will to subsidize menstrual protections calls upon reflection of the factors leading to menstrual precarity. Of course, the societal taboo around menstruations is responsible for the lack of accessibility of menstrual products, which, unlike many necessary products, have been deemed women’s responsibility and even classified as “luxury products” in the French VAT system. However, as public policies are taking steps in addressing this taboo, this paper aims at analyzing the current stat of the menstrual products market, and what effects the aforementioned taboo has had on the prices of this health products.
